LG ELECTRONICS ENHANCES CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE THROUGH ADVANCED DISPLAY TECHNOLOGIES AT INFOCOMM 2005

Installation at Ross Middle School Academy of Creative and Media Arts Highlights How Digital Display Solutions Meet the Need of Educators and Students

Reaffirming its 20-year dedication to developing advanced tools for educational settings, LG Electronics has partnered with the Ross Middle School Academy of Creative and Media Arts, Artesia, CA.

Educators at the newly renovated Ross Academy (ABC Unified School District) selected 28 of LG's 42-inch plasma displays (RU-42PX10C) for 28 classrooms that serve more than 650 students per year.

"We needed to capture our students' attention while providing the most up-to-date technology that enhances their education," said Gregg Kincaid, site magnet coordinator of Ross Academy. "We found LG's displays not only stimulated learning through daily student-produced broadcasts and ongoing student TV shows, but also enhanced our video production classes."

The RU-42PX10C offers 852 x 480 resolution and flexible picture-in-picture functions, among many other features. With a contrast ratio of 5000:1 and peak brightness of 1500 cd/m2, the LG plasmas deliver superb picture clarity and brightness in a variety of environments, including brightly lit classrooms. The unit also includes proprietary XD EngineTM technology that delivers crisp, lifelike and brilliant images.

Announced during InfoComm 2005 (Booth #2700), this display installation demonstrates LG's dedication to creating a more productive learning experience and to serving communities in which we live, according to Todd Moffett, education director for Commercial Products, LG Electronics USA, Inc.

"With schools constantly competing against multiple media to engage children, LG offers technology that communicates the classroom curriculum in the most engaging and interactive way," said Moffett. "Our partnership with ABC Unified School District reinforces our commitment to improve performance within the classroom through the use of advanced display technologies."

As with all LG's plasma displays, the units installed in Ross Academy incorporate image-sticking minimization, pixel orbiter and white wash features that reduce phosphor burn, prolonging the life of the plasma. This is an especially important feature for classroom presentations where a static image is displayed for an extended period. The unit comes with integrated speakers and a removable stand providing educators with even greater flexibility.

Another product showcased at InfoComm that is ideal for classrooms is LG's 15-inch Tablet Monitor (Model L1530TM). The tablet monitor allows for on-the-spot modifications to any computer-based presentation. The unit allows teachers to display class materials directly on a large plasma screen by writing directly on the sleek 15-inch tablet with a special pen. Advantages of this type of technology are ease of use, as well as the ability to intuitively decipher the teacher's handwriting. Most important, teachers can now present class materials while sitting at a desk or standing at a podium, enabling them to face the class and actively engage students in the learning process.

The L1530TM also includes Super In-Plane-Switching (Super IPS) technology providing the industry's fastest response time and a wide viewing angle that allows for distortion free viewing from almost any angle, perfect for students crowding over the display where a straight view of the screen is not always available. The unit comes in either black or silver.
